Mzansi-style Oxtail

Khumbul’ekhaya with this rich and satisfying Mzansi-style Oxtail dish.

  1. Wash and trim excess fat from oxtail meat.
    1kg oxtail
  2. Cook in little water and on low heat, adding water as required for 3-4 hours or until soft, to your preference.
  3. Add onion, all sauces and spices, and a little more water for everything to blend together.
    1 medium-sized chopped onion, 100ml Worcestershire sauce, 100ml tomato sauce, 100ml chutney sauce, 1 tsp Amapelepele Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp Amapelepele Curry Powder - Mild, 1 tsp Amapelepele BBQ Spice
  4. Add pinch of salt and allow to simmer for another 20 minutes until meat almost falls off the bone.
  5. Add powdered soup to thicken the stew and simmer for 3 minutes.
  6. Enjoy with Basmati rice.
